The Original Version of the Neighbourhood Plan
East Langton Parish Council took the decision to undertake a Neighbourhood Plan at its meeting on 15th July 2013. They engaged Yourlocale , a local company which supports Parish Councils to produce Neighbourhood Plans.
The Parish Council was grateful to have received grants from the following organisations to support this work:
- Big Lottery Awards for All
- Leicestershire Big Society
- Locality
The Referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan took place 21/6/18.
132 people voted, 41% turnout, 132 for and 15 against.
The plan was therefore adopted.

Background to the plan

An application was made to Harborough District Council on 9/8/2013 for the area that the plan will cover to be designated. The area, which includes the villages and Church Langton and East Langton, was designated on 9/10/2013. See the map of the area below:

The following Consultation Events and Meetings took place:
- June 2014 - Consultation Exercise at Church Langton Primary School with local children (see Appendix ix below)
- 4/12/14 and 5/12/14 - Community Consultation Events (see Appendices iv and v below)
- November 2014 - Stakeholders contacted (see Appendices ii and iii below)
- March 2016 - Questionnaire to every household (see Appendices vi(a), vi(b), vii and viii below)
- 14/6/16 and 16/6/16 - Community Consultation Events (see Appendices x and xi below)
- 28th July 2016 to 15th September 2016 - The Neighbourhood Plan Pre-Submission Consultation (Regulation 14) period
- 10/11/2016 - Public Meeting (see Appendix xiii below)
At the Parish council meeting on 29/11/2016 the Submission Version of the Neighbourhood Plan (see below) was approved and it was resolved to submit this to Harborough District Council for the next stage of consultation.

Harborough District Council arranged for a further consultation between 25/1/17 and 8/3/17 and then for it to be sent for Independent Inspection.
Examiner's Report Received
The Examiner's Report for the East Langton Neighbourhood Plan was received by Harborough District Council on 22 February 2018.
The Examiner's Report recommended that, with modifications, the East Langton Neighbourhood Plan proceed to a referendum. The recommended referendum area was the Parish of East Langton to include those homes that are part of the village of Church Langton but inside West Langton Parish.
